An elastomer bellows seal combines the best features of a bellows seal and a pusher seal, such as the absence of a dynamic gasket which eliminates the possibility of 'hang-up.' The elastomer bellows is tolerant to abrasive particals or contamination. This is due to the features of the open shape and the 'self-cleaning action,' disposing of particles through centrifugal force. One can consider such as unbalanced, and as such suitable only for low pressure and temperatures. Corrosion resistance is determined by spring material and elastomer bellows material. One major benefit is the simplicity of the design, and subseqent lower cost, especially when made and purchased in large quantities.
